This is a great album, one of the best this year, but if you're interested in buying it, I would suggest you wait until the limited edition with extra content is released before Christmas.

Great Melodies - better than a happy tablet
12 October, 2008
I love many of the songs. The CD is well worth it. Mercy makes me feel positively happy! I also love Warwick avenue, Rockferry. I can listen to this CD all day.
She is one of the artists I would buy multiple copies of this CD listen anywhere. So much soul and character in answer to previous criticism missing for Leona Over Hyped -up Lewis

Short but sweet
31 August, 2008
The music on this CD is fantastic, but I did feel a little short changed to discover it was only a little over 30 mins long. You can fit 80 mins of music on a CD so I do feel that 30 mins is a bit short for a full album.

In August 2004, Duffy came to the attention of Rough Trade’s Jeannette Lee who became both her manager and her mentor. Just as Vicki Wickham guided Dusty Springfield to the best musical collaborations of the day; or Jerry Wexler and Ahmet Ertegun helped Aretha find her true voice in the Muscle Shoals Memphis studio; Rough Trade pointed Duffy in the direction of Bernard Butler in London’s Crouch End. Duffy spent the next couple years honing and developing her songwriting skills all the while discovering hidden musical gems that inspired her. The fruits of her intense labour is the magnificent album, 'Rockferry'.
- Uncut (p.84) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "The title track is a great calling card, where she starts low and husky before suddenly leaping a whole octave to belt out the second chorus."
'Rockferry' is the debut album from Welsh singer Duffy. Written and produced in collaboration with Bernard Butler, the album is a stunning showcase for her voice, which brings to mind such great singers as Dusty Springfield, Lulu and Sandie Shaw. Includes the singles 'Rockferry' and 'Mercy'.
Personnel: Duffy (vocals).
Recording information: West Heath Studios.
Straight out of Nefyn, North Wales, (Aimee Anne) Duffy's smoky retro-soul has earned her comparisons with blue-eyed soul legend, Dusty Springfield. Voted the second hottest new talent in the BBC's 'Sound for 2008' poll after fellow soul girl Adele, her debut album ROCKFERRY featured Bernard Butler (Suede, McAlmont & Butler) as performer and co-writer.
