The Girls just keep getting better!
25 July, 2008
This album is my favourite of Girls Aloud's. It's more grown-up than their previous albums but, like the others, is quality pop music!
There are familiar Girls Aloud dancey stompers - Close To Love, Sexy No No No, Girl Overboard and Fling. What You Crying For has a drum'n'bass-type beat, and most of the other tracks are mid-tempo, with the only 'ballads' being Call The Shots and Crocodile Tears, although these aren't as slow as other ballads Girls Aloud have done, e.g. I'll Stand By You.
There's a lot of Nadine (as you'd probably expect), and also a lot of Cheryl and Sarah. There's a fairly decent amount of Nicola too, and in my opinion her solos are the best solos on the album. There isn't much Kimberley, though, which might not be surprising as her voice is relatively weak.
I really like the direction the Girls, still going strong after over 5 years, are going in with this album. I think it will be tough to make a better album than this, but let's wait and see!

Produced by long-standing collaborators Xenomania, 'Tangled Up' sees the girls return with a pack of hits. 'Call The Shots' will be the new single, released on 26th November, and sees Girls Aloud mine a rich vein of gorgeous, dreamy, emotionally-resonant balladry.
The high-octane rush of 'Sexy! No No No…', which hit the top five in September, has already become a 21st century pop classic. 'I Can’t Speak French' sounds like a contemporary take on the classic girl-groups of yester-year while the famous Girls Aloud attitude is present in force on 'Blackjack' and 'Fling' which deliver the girls in full-on raucous mode, synths, bass and sassy lyrics turned up to the maximum.
The album is Girls Aloud’s fifth, representing amazing longevity in the fickle world of pop music. Their previous albums were 2003's debut 'Sound Of The Underground', 2004's 'What Will The Neighbours Say', 2005's 'Chemistry' and last year's best of, 'The Sound Of Girls Aloud'.
During the course of these albums, Girls Aloud have had a fantastic level of success with their singles. 'Sexy! No No No…' was their sixteenth top ten single, a run that has seen them land a place in the Guinness World Records book for the most top ten hits in a row in the UK by a female group.
'Tangled Up' is the fourth studio album from pop sensations Girls Aloud. Pumped full of fun, cheeky songs that will appeal to everybody's inner teenager, this album marks them out as rightful heirs to the girl-group throne. Includes the single 'Sexy No No'.
Unusually for a group catapulted into the nation's consciousness via a reality TV/talent contest (2002's 'Popstars: The Rivals'), Girls Aloud managed to combine phenomenal single and album chart success with genuine critical acclaim. Their collaborations with the Xenomania production team have been particularly lauded, especially on CHEMISTRY (2005). As well as a mainstay of the charts, the five girls were also regular fixtures in the gossip columns, fuelled primarily by Cheryl Cole's much publicised marriage to footballer Ashley Cole and her participation as a judge in the 2008 edition of X-Factor.
