Before Goldfrapp had their huge hits with the album "Black Cherry" and single "Strict Machine" they produced this beautiful and haunting album "Felt Mountain". This album has less of a disco vibe than their later work and is much more ethereal in it's sound. The album contains the fantastic "Lovely Head" and "Paper Bag" which certainly hint at what was to come but were definitely not as catchy. "Felt Mountain" is an amazing achievement that delivers one great song after another and is a really beautiful symphony of strange and interesting music that can be listened to over and over without ever getting boring.

'Felt Mountain' is the debut album by the Wiltshire experimental pop duo Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory. Their downtempo, cinematic music has drew comparison with the work of Ennio Morricone. This collection includes the singles 'Lovely Head', 'Utopia' and 'Human'.
Alison Goldfrapp first gained notoriety for her astonishing vocal work on albums by Tricky and techno duo Orbital. She joined forces with composer Will Gregory in the late 1990s to create her own moody, sensual version of contemporary electronica. With a succession of critically lauded albums, the duo honed their approach and utilised an assortment of influences ranging from traditional soundtrack themes and vintage pop to '80s synth sounds, disco, and glam rock to create one of the most intriguing and satisfying electronica hybrids to emerge from the genre since its inception.
